Ideas for
Ski Circuits High altitude Three Valleys circuit including
lunch at the Bel Air restaurant (Courcheval) Intermediates, i.e. Capable,
red piste skiers. Allow 2½ hours to get to the Bel Air, skiing
at reasonable pace.
1) Take the Bruyeres gondola to the top station, then follow the Lac de
la Chambre piste (red) to the bottom of the Mont Vallon gondola.
2) Take the Mont Vallon gondola and ski the Combes Vallon piste (red).
At the bottom of the Mures Rouges chairlift, follow the blue piste, Ours,
into Meribel Mottaret.
3) Take the Pas du Lac gondola to the top (Saulire) and follow the Creux
piste (red) to the Chanrossa chairlift.
4) Take the Chanrossa chairlift, then the Roc Merlet (red) and Pyramide
(blue) pistes. Pass across the top of the Combe drag lift from where you
will see the Bel Air restaurant on the right.
5) From the Bel Air, take the green piste to the Combe drag lift.
6) From the top of the Combe drag take the Grandes Bosses (blue) piste
to the bottom of the Pyramide drag lifts but don't take these lifts, instead
follow the red piste to the Aguille du Fruit chairlift.
7) From the top of the Aguille du Fruit chairlift, either take the Park
City (red) piste or the Suisses (black) piste to the Suisses chairlift.
8) From the top of the Suisses chairlift, follow the path signposted to
Meribel. At the large rock (unmissable) at the junction between Courcheval
and Meribel, take the Niverolle (red) piste to the Pas du Lac gondola
mid-station. From here take the Aigle (blue) into Meribel Mottaret.
9) Take the Plattieres gondola to the top and take the Allemandes (red)
piste until you reach the Menuires Stade du Slalom, then follow the Petit
Creux (blue) piste to the top of the Doron chairlift.
10) Follow signs for Reberty to arrive back at the apartment.
1b.Variation including Maurienne for advanced (and fit!) skiers.
10) At stage 9 of the previous route, leave the Plattieres gondola at
the second mid-station and take the red to the Cote Brune chair.
11) From the top of Cote Brune, follow the red piste signposted for Val
Thorens, then take the Marielle (black) piste to the top of the Trois
Vallees 1 chairlift. Then follow the Plein Sud (blue) piste into Val Thorens
and keep going until you reach the Caron gondola.
12) Take the Cime Caron gondola, then the Caron cable car.
13) From the top of Caron, follow the black piste into Maurienne and to
the Rosael chairlift.
14) Take the Rosael chairlift then follow the Chamois (black) piste until
it joins the red which returns to the bottom of the Cime Caron cable car.
From here, follow the Gentians (blue) piste, then take the Boulevard Cumin
(red) piste back to the bottom of Masse. Return to Reberty via the Doron
chair lift. A gentle cruise to Saint Martin de Belleville
(Blue pistes - shy intermediates/adventurous beginners)
1) From Reberty take the Bruyeres Gondola, exit at the mid station and
follow the blue piste to Les Menuires ( Croisette).
2) From Croisette take the Combes chair, then follow the Giraud piste
to the Allemands chairlift.
3) At the top of the Allemands chairlift, follow the Grand Lac piste down
to the start of the Grand Lacs and Teppes drag lifts, then take the Pelozet
piste.
4) When you reach the bottom of the St Martin 2 chairlift, follow the
Biollay piste into St Martin.
5) From St Martin take the Gondola and then the Chairlift (St. Martin
1 and 2) to Tougnette.
6) From Tougnette follow the Gros Toungue piste all the way back to les
Menuires. When you arrive in Croisette take the right hand (looking up
the hill) chairlift that goes up the middle of the main piste and from
the top follow the signs for Reberty. A gentle cruise to Val Thorens (Blue
pistes - shy intermediates/adventurous beginners)
From Reberty take the Bruyeres gondola to the top. Follow the Mont de
la Chambre piste to the top of the Montaulever drag lift, then follow
the signpost toward Val Thorens.
Enjoy skiing around Val Thorens - there are a lot of wide, gentle pistes
both through and around the resort (try the area around the Moraine chair
lift).
There are two ways to return.
The recommended option is to take the 3 Vallees 1 chairlift (alternatively
take the Plein Sud chairlift) then take the 3 Vallees 2 chairlift to the
top (a new funitel should be open for this season that takes you to about
the same place). Follow the Mont de la Chambre piste directly back to
Reberty.
Alternatively, you can take Boulevard Cumin to the bottom of the Doron
chairlift. Sometimes, the top part Boulevard Cumin has a poor surface
and the bottom part is a long flattish path. At the end of the afternoon
there is also often a queue for the Doron chair.
